What is an MRI ?

Our Philosophy

An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a method used by physicians to produce images of the anatomy without the use of radiation as in x-ray and CT scanning. This procedure is now commonly used as a primary diagnostic tool. As the name implies, the OPEN MRI provides almost unrestricted access in the front, back and both sides. As a result, the Open MRI Scan offers the patient a comfortable, open environment. MRI is a non-invasive procedure, and there are no known side or after effects. It can help provide a quick and more accurate diagnosis for your physician which in some situations can reduce the need for exploratory surgery or other invasive procedures. The procedure is painless… you won’t see or feel anything. Some people even fall asleep during the exam, or you may bring your own selection of music to enjoy. A faint humming sound will be heard which is simply the imaging process in operation. The procedure will typically last anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the type of information required by your physician. All that is required of you is to be as still as possible during the procedure.

So relax… and
Welcome to S-1 Imaging

Dear Patient,

If you have ever had a medical procedure or an MRI exam in a traditional closed “tunnel”, you understand that it can sometimes be stressful. At S1 Imaging, we understand and want to make your MRI experience as pleasant as possible. With S1 Imaging, you will no longer have to endure that “claustrophobic feeling.” Please review the rest of the information on this website. It will help you understand the “open” MRI process, how it works, what you need to do in preparation for your scan and hopefully ease your mind about the Open MRI scan process. At S1 Open MRI, we pride ourselves on our patient friendly atmosphere, and our staff is always available to answer any further questions or concerns you may have.
